Modeling 101
So you want to be a model...
Modeling is as hot today as ever thanks to shows like ANTM and models like Tyra Banks who have left the fashion industry wide open for young ladies and men to pursue their dreams to become a full time model. We get a lot of information about calls and castings here and we have helped out with the career development of a few people in the industry and some of the industry trade magazines.
We've put together some resources for you if you really want to be a model.
1. Study the craft. Know what kind of modeling you want to do and study the best in the business. Be realistic about your look, body shape, and have a great attitude.
2. Find the best photographers in your area that you can find to help you build your portfolio. Listen to your gut. If they tell you something that is almost too true to believe, then it probably is. Get references from other models that have worked with a photographer.
3. Once you have a portfolio in hand. Start marketing yourself. Look for stylists and producers that are working within the industry that can help you get the exposure that you need.
4. Put your portfolio and resume online. Get great comp cards and a great website done.
5. Look for a great agency to push you to the next level. By the time you look for representation you should already know what kind of model you want to be.
